Your Child in Heaven

Aborted Child in Heaven

One of my biggest fears concerned my arrival in heaven.  When I finally arrive there, would my baby hate me? Would I recognize my child? For a time, I became worried about my child’s welfare in heaven. Who was caring for him?

At that point in my healing process, my mother sent me a letter. Remember when I shared about my two sisters in heaven, Naomi and Cydney? In her letter, my mother acknowledged that she loved her grandchild in heaven as much as her two daughters.

Suddenly, it became very real to me that Jesse had family – his two aunts were doting on him in heaven! My child was surrounded by all his ancestors as well. Heaven is not a lonely place!

As I worried how Jesse would receive me, I found Revelation  2:10, Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

This verse outlined that the biggest benefit of a heavenly existence is that Satan won’t be there! Satan is the author of confusion, hatred, anger and everything evil in this world. Without his accusing voice, we will know and experience the beauty of heaven without fear of being rejected.

I had other questions for God. Does my child miss me? Would he be mad at me when we finally met?

Sitting down with God, I asked for His help again. He spoke to my heart using my own voice, “Trust me with Jesse. I have him in My care and your reunion will be joyous.” I knew this was a message from God because of the release it provided to my worrying heart.

God is the only Judge in heaven. He is the One who will dispel mercy or judgment depending on whether or not we were repentant on earth and believed in His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16). Not once in Scripture did it say that humans were going to judge other humans in Heaven!

In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus spoke about this truth. A rich man and a beggar both died, and the beggar went to heaven. The rich man saw him from Hades (Hell) and asked Father Abraham to have mercy and to send the beggar to give him water to cool his tongue.

His response in verse 25-26 relays, But Abraham said, “Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.”

God had already placed the rich man in Hades, and there was nothing to be done. But there is still time to reach “rich men” on Earth today.

Are you worrying about your child? Now that he/she has become a real person in your heart, realize that they’ve always been a real person to God. He has always cared for them. There is no sadness in heaven, only peace.

When the time comes for you to die, you will know this truth. Until then, God has a role for you on earth. He will be with you as He is with your child. In Christ, you can look forward to a joyous reunion with all your family members who believe in Jesus that have gone before you in heaven.
