Module 5: Forgiveness

Hello, I’m Sydna Massé, author of the book, Her Choice to Heal: Finding Spiritual and Emotional Peace After Abortion and the Founder and CEO of Ramah International, an outreach organization designed to offer the hope of healing to abortion’s wounded around the world.

There is no sin greater than God’s capacity to forgive. His forgiveness hinges on one thing – our confession of our sin. By this point, your confession should have already taken place in your heart.

Forgiveness is the most basic of all principles in the Bible. Yet forgiveness of oneself for abortion is a very difficult matter. Psalm 103:12 says, As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Micah 7:19 relays, You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins under foot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

When we seek God with an open heart, asking Him to forgive our sins, He does. God then casts our sins into the sea of His forgetfulness and posts a “NO FISHING” sign. That’s the simple truth.

After we have given our sins to God, our memories may recall our old emotions. Feelings like shame, guilt and anger may return. In those days, we should then remind ourselves of God’s “No Fishing” sign. We must allow God to use time and His grace to calm these memories and comfort us again.

This module, along with Chapter 5 in my book, Her Choice to Heal, will outline the various elements of forgiveness as they relate to an abortion experience. Our prayer is that God would use this module to break through to your heart with His love for you!

God’s Forgiveness

Sydna Masse shares her own abortion  story, and offers a general outline on how Abortion PTSD ( or post-abortion syndrome) can impact an individual at an emotional and spiritual levels.

Forgiving Others

Women rarely end up in abortion clinics without being impacted by the opinion of others. Whether by direct or indirect involvement, those who encourage, bully, intimidate, coerce or assist women in aborting need to be forgiven.

Bible Character: The Sinful Woman

The Bible is filled with the stories of God’s people and how their sin’s were redeemed. In this lesson, we will review Luke 7 and the account of Jesus being anointed by a sinful woman to help you understand how much God cares for you!

Stranger at the Abortion Clinic

“This is an abortion clinic! What is she doing here?” I thought upon noticing a stranger entering the room. “She does not look like a person who should be having an abortion.”

Forgiving Myself

Forgiving myself simply seemed impossible and wrong. I felt that I deserved the worst in life because I had allowed my child to die. I had walked into that clinic out of my own free will so I was ultimately responsible for my child’s death.

Forgiving Jane Roe

Norma McCorvey, the infamous “Jane Roe” in the Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion in America on January 22, 1973, stood next to me behind the stage. Her request for a cigarette outlined her apprehension of what could happen over the next few minutes.

Dreams After Abortion

Abortion changes everything. It is a massive dream killer simply from the emotional impact that can occur in many hearts. While many initially can feel relief after abortion, that reprieve is often temporary.

Forgiveness Isn’t Optional!

Forgiveness is an act of the will and impacts one’s intimate relationship with God. The act of forgiving is not optional as relayed by Jesus in His sample prayer, which we refer to as the Lord’s Prayer.

Generational Sin Issues

Abortion among first- and second-generation Americans – immigrants and children of foreign-born individuals – can be common simply because we are often held hostage to the hopes and dreams of our impoverished ancestors.
